What damage types are reduced by armors?
I have experienced that mesmer spells ARE NOT reduced by armors.
I have experienced that elementalist on the other hand, ARE recuded by armors (don't know how it works exactly though). What about necromancer spells? Thanks nostra |

Shadow, Lifeleech(which does shadow-damage), Holy. Those are only damage-types which are not reduced by armor.
Oh, and mesmer-spells. |

However, I read somewhere that elemental spells have 25% armor penetration. Is this correct? If yes, do "shocking" weapons inherits this 25% armor penetration ?
Ranger armors have like 70 armor, 30 armor vs elem damage. I wonder how they stack. my guess is 70 * 0.75 + 30 = 82.5 vs elem. But I can't really tell... |

Ok, thanks for the answers.
To Roselan: Note sure what you are refering to, but some air spells speak of a 25% armor penetration. Never saw anything else about elem spells armor penetration. nostra |

As far as I'm aware, shocking weapons, and the damage inflicted by conjure lightning is NOT armour piercing.
It's worth pointing out that lightning damage is only armour piercing if the spell description specifically says that the damage pierces armour. In other words, conjure lightning doesn't have an inherent "edge" of that kind over the other conjure spells. As for the armour calc, yes, I think you're right about the way it works, except that I think the +30 may also be modified by AP. There's a very informative treatise on combat mechanics on this site at http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...nics-id674.php |
